On the bright side, I'm supposed to pick up my friend's Motorola team Merckx sometime this week!
|
Well, that should help to make you feel better.
I note that roadrunner2012 seems to have disappeared from the thread without disclosing his ebay name. No surprise there. |
just file a claim and get your money back, whats what will happen. As for the BB, if you have a frame builder around i'd take it to him if you love the frame. I'm sure they could fix it and you couldnt have to worry about it, or see it unless your bike is upsidedown a lot.
|
Just to update for posterity, the frame went back to the seller (not at my expense) and I got my money back. Thanks to all who helped me diagnose severity. One day I'll get myself a Weinmann Merckx.
|
Sorry about the heartbreak, glad you got it resolved without much trouble!
|
Agreed.
Unfortunate, but there are so many nice framesets waiting for you! |
+ 1. Glad everything got resolved in your favor.
What's going to replace it? |

Nope, not the seller, no relation, etc. My stuff is so nice it usually sells by word of mouth, no need to pay eBay commissions. My Merckx's are much nicer, and not for sale. |
edit: not worth it.

Worked his way into a sink hole on this board. |

Well, I simultaneously acquired the other Merckx in this thread, so there's not really a hole to fill at the moment. I'm going to use part of the money to outfit the Corsa more to my liking and save the rest for later.

Waaa! I bid multiple times on a bike that had pictures, then I cried until I got my way.

Wow, what an ordeal. Glad it worked out for you. I bought a frame that wasn't what I expected on ebay (again iffy description and bad pictures), and some members here really helped me out (though I still need to get off my rear and finish the build).

Sophia,
Glad this worked out for you in the end. Tim |
Well, this was certainly an ugly and sad thread. In more ways than one. I kind of wish I hadn't read the whole thing, especially certain posts, but I did. All I can say is that I'm glad you got redemption Whatwolf. Whoever said "a picture doesn't lie" said it before the advent of eBay. While pics don't lie, they don't tell the whole truth, obviously. I hate the ever-more-common trend on ebay to just supply some pics with minimal, usually intentionally so, written description. Look at my pics and take your chances. Screw that. Oops. Potential ebay rant stopped. Sorry. Good luck with your new Merckx Whatwolf.

Very interesting, I am glad it worked out for you wolf. We will have to wait and see if the frame reappears on ebay . I think that if the seller were to provide some decent photos and describe the frame as a 'project', he would still get a lot of interest in the auction.

I came here thinking this was more on the Motorola Merckx - how wrong I was!
Glad it all worked out in the end, though :) DD |
Nothing ...never mind

The main thing is to find you an 8-sp RD.
