Yeah, Merckx!

I just won this Merckx frame! It is going to be my racer -- also it will complete my C&V decade trifecta: 70s, 80s, 90s.

Planning to build it up with Campy ergo stuff - which I know nothing about, so I will be enlisting help in the coming months. Would like to do it asap, but we will see what the budget allows for. Hooray!

I just hope the seller knows how to pack.

Congrats! Glad someone here got it! Seems to be a pretty good deal for a SLX Merckx.

I was watching that one as well; we must ride the same size bikes. Unfortunately for me with taxes I couldn't swing it.

Looking forward to build pickx!

I know, I am apprehensive. But they did sell one other Merckx frame...

I don't really want to think about it until it is safely here!

actually that's the same frame... deal fell through i guess. anyway, you're always protected by eBay's buyer protection which pretty much guarantees you'll be fine under any circumstance.

Yep, buyer protection is good. I just hope it doesn't come to that.

There was another frame, red and white that sold for I think ~350 shipped, but I guess it's old enough that it doesn't come up on the search. It did the other day.

Good for you! I seriously thought about bidding on that one.

Nice but I think after you build a Merckx with a modern Campy group you will be very disappointed....with every other bike in your stable.

Excellent. SLX is a really smooth ride. Can't wait for the build picx either.

I saw that one - very pretty frame! You will be pleased with the Campy ergo system.

Nice frameset.

FWIW I've sold four Merckx framesets in the last seven months.

My TSX Century was so tough to let go, but I did.

If yours checks out, you pulled a pretty sweet deal, as I won't let mine go that cheap.

I'm down to two and the only reason one of them is up for grabs is the size.

Campy for the build I'd reckon and an Athena gruppo would look great. A used 10 speed Chorus gruppo would also be very nice.

Have fun!

Nice score. I'm converting an older Merckx to 10s this coming week.

Beauty of a frame which should look and perform like a dream with Ergo.

BTW, if you're in need of a free HS for this, please PM me. I just scored a Chris King for the Davidson and will be removing the Chorus unit and swapping them out.

Congrats on your new frame - looking forward to pix

Would that be too large or too small?

A very nice Corsa.

Bit too big in the seat tube for my tastes lately.

It's in my Flickr if anyone wants to take a look.

Uh oh, looks like I'm going to be buying my friend's SL Merckx (Corsa I think), too. He is giving me a very good deal so it's hard to turn down. It's built up with campy 8s. Very excited.

Hard to justify getting myself two Merckx (one and a half, really) in such a short amount of time but the price is right and this way I'll be able to ride at least one of them much sooner, and teach myself about the use and maintenance of ergos in the meantime.

That'll be a great bike. I'm also about to start building a frame with a modern Campy group for the first time, so if you want to compare notes on anything, let me know.

Well folks, it's decided, I will soon own this guy, too:

It's a bit older than the Merckx frame I won on ebay, and has a mix of Athena, Veloce (8s), and DA hubs.

April is bike month for me, it seems! I am currently riding my Peugeot (as my only bike), I have a SS project that I'm wrapping up within a couple weeks, and now these two Merckx bikes to sort out and ride as much as possible! Shaping up to be a very nice summer

Not sure if the Merckx will compare to the Peugeot, and I mean that in a good way

Very pretty bike, it looks to be in great condition! I kind of like the older style Merckx lettering better. Super jealous.

Super nice.

That should make anyone's summer outstanding.

I'll always own at least one Merckx.

Very nice bicycles for sport riding.
