24" Schwinn Caliente

Spotted this late last night on CL for $40! So I crossed my fingers and called this morning... he still had it! Went and picked it up at lunch time. Looks to be an '87 by the dat codes I could find. ST measures ~37cm, TT is 46cm, and a 26" stand over. Couple scratches and the tires have good tread but rotted sidewalls. Overall in good mostly original shape. I've changed the saddle (had a cheap kids MTB saddle that didn't mach at all) and replaced the torn foam grips with some nice new tape. Still just a little big for my 9 year old daughter but with the seat slammed she can peddle it and she's smiling HUGE . So as long as we stick to the trail and she doesn't have to stop much, it's "ridable" . I keep underestimating how tiny she is! She'll grow into this a lot faster than the 47cm RB-1 I picked up last summer. My 15 year old does fit that and she's even attempted one ride with me but she's just not loving the idea of a road bike like the little one.

That's great! There's one of those in town here, too, that I've been wondering about. Mind if I ask your daughter's approximate height?

Sure, she's about 4'3" with a 23" inseam ( barefoot to the floor). Now I just got to find her some size 2 platform shoes!

Cool find! (I have to admit that when I read the thread title, I thought "Wow, they made them that big?" )
