cassette recommendation?

My '78 Super Le Tour 12.2 has a freewheel that feels pretty gunked up despite my initial cleaning efforts.

If I have to replace it, what would be a good replacement match? The current cassette is a Shimano (14,17,20,24,28) but I think I'd like to switch to a smaller-toothed high gear, maybe a 13?

Any suggestions for a direct swap? I'd keep my eyes open for a NOS, or I wouldn't mind buying new if the price was reasonable.

(The RD is a Shimano 600, FD Shimano 60.)

The 13 would be high gear and you probably have a freewheel.

I'm not sure there are any new production 5 speed freewheels with 13t cogs. This would be a good replacement if you could live with the 14t cog.

Harris has those IRD freewheels with a 13T top cog. $50 though, ouch: https://sheldonbrown.com/harris/freewheels.html#5

Sunrace is making freewheels (again?) and are marketed by DiaCompe. They may have a close ratio cluster with a 13T high. And it may be a 6. They are not as slick as the Shimano that are made in China, but I rode one recently and it was fine ... CLICK_CLICK_CLICK ....

They're not marketed by Dia Compe here in the US and, in my opinion, they're superior to the Singapore produced Shimano freewheels and they're chromed or nickel rather than the black/brown.
