I purchased from Grant a new Bombadil
My roadie friend's laughter was very shrill
It was slow on descents
I couldn't pay rent
I use it for shopping to cook on my grill.

Grant's a man with many opinions,
Faithfully memorized by his minions,
His regard for the ages,
makes seventeen pages,
"bout double top tubes

What ever happened to Snarky Pup? leave us for greener pastures? get fed up with goofball threads like this? Bianchigirl seems to be holding down the smarter sex's part here. There was that one woman who owned that real pretty green Raleigh 3 speed....
Maybe SnarkyPup headed over to Team Estrogen. She did stick her head in a couple weeks ago and asked about the suitability of a Twenty for travelling. Actually, I think the women that are regulars in here lately are:
  • Bianchigirl
  • kiwigem
  • HeatherBikes
  • whatwolf
  • jril (she mostly lurks, I think)
  • slowtostart

Anyway, kiwi's fun to have around, even if I did think she was a guy.

Just the opposite for me. I was trapped in utilitarian riding for almost 20 years. Now I've ALSO got a 22lbs Centurion with no fender or rack bosses (what?!) just to "work out", as Peterson would say. There's a little "retired dentist with a corvette" syndrome and it's certainly hotter-looking than my 94 Volvo, but workouts don't come quite as easily as they did when I was 20 and ive got to kick myslef out the door occasionally. The biggest challenge with the whole faux-racing motif is finding a state-of-the-art getup that doesn't make you look like NASCAR billboard. Yeah, I actually like drop bars now, they're easier on the wrists and palm.

The only suitable use for a dulcimer, according to the Grant, is for kindling. I have a pack of matches in my pocket at the ready.

And now we have also set up chronicling and interpretation of what GP says. Next stop-exhaustive concordance, and the commentaries.

Hey Marc, I'm doing all I can to bring this thread back OT, but this is a recalcitrant bunch.

Seriously, congratulations on the new Riv! I'd be excited too.

Thank you.
Mrs GA doesn't like limericks,
but she's at a gala,
so she's hardly in any position
to enforce her opinions.

Yep, been there done that, though not on a motorcycle. When I lived in MT, I made several cross country trips with no sleep to speak of. I'd never do that now.

When I was young, dumb, a killbot-factory E-4, and fulla spunk, I rode 1300+ miles in one sitting. And another 1000-mile day the next day. I was so tired at gas-stop in Cedar City, Utah, that I forgot to put my feet down at a stoplight and toppled over right next to a Convertible Cabriolet full of coeds my age.
The humiliation was supreme; being sweet Mormon girls, they sounded concerned and offered help, but I quickly yanked the Sportster back up and rode off without saying anything. Kept me awake until Vegas, at least. It would be a few more years before I finally lost my virginity.

Bicycles are neat, but they're not as flexible at motorcycles. Ever read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"? Here are some pics of Pirsig & son, and companions:

As much as I think the Cagiva is a sweet ride, I don't have a garage and I'd hate to cart that up and down to the basement. Besides, you know I'm not a flyweight. Do you think it would be fair to that little motorbike to try to haul my butt around? GP would not approve!
