1984 Peugeot P-18C

I originally had this frame powdercoated to build up a second bike for my wife. It languished in the basement while her first bike collected dust and flat spots on the tires. So, last week I built it up for her sister who is pretty excited to have a bike to ride after hers was stolen many months ago.

The dropouts on the fork were tweaked so I just scrapped it and installed a cheap 27" replacement. I reused the Swiss cups and everything else was from my parts bin. Wheels are from a Trek, the crank is from a Schwinn Super Sport, the bars are from a Jack Taylor tandem, pedals from a World Voyageur and on and on.

I used a MTB brake cable, a Dremel cutting disc and a pinch bolt from Loose Screws fashion a straddle cable that was the proper length. The bike was originally equipped with MAFAC Racers.

Nice build; great color. But what's with the spacers on the stem?

Edit: ah, steerer tube too long.

BTW, my wife has ten bikes, half of which she doesn't know about. When I mentioned going to the RIH tribute ride, and asked her if she wanted to come along, she said "do I have RIH?". I had to disappoint her.

Ha! That definitely sounds like my wife.

Yeah, since the bars were going to be high anyhow I just elected not to cut the steerer.

Thanks to holiday76 for the Bike Ribbon and nlerner for the BarCons!
