Help! I Want to Turn Heads
Just picked up a 1994 Bridgestone X0-3 in great shape. The Frame and paint look good. The brakes were corroded and I think I may have a set of LX cantis on the way. I absolutely love the bike. What can I do to make it a head turner? I did my normal breakdown and wax, but want more HELP! PLEASE,
Here are the pics

They originally came with white vinyl wrap, which you can still find online in Bike Ribbon brand. White cables, and a black Brooks saddle. And yes, hammered Honjo fenders. A silver rear rack wouldn't hurt, as well as a front rack. Hmm, here I am suggesting colors and I don't even know what color it is. Mine was red
.
Any way you can post the pics here? I have a Bucket account, and I cannot even look at my own pics since they did the wonderful "updates". It locks up my computer or collapses the browser if I even click a link to them.,,,,BD

I like the idea of yellow handlebar tape and wrap the ends using brown or black waxed twine plus add yellow brake/derailleur cables. Is that a leather saddle (hard to tell)? If it is, proofide it to revive the leather. Otherwise you can get a Brooks or an inexpensive but still nice Origin 8 classic saddle. I think brown will look friggin sweet. The scratches on the rear of chainstay can be touched up with nail polish. Take a pic on your phone and go to WalMart or Target and pick three 3 or 4 colors that are really close. Return the bottles that didn't match for a refund. I would also put Kool Stop salmon brake pads. Besides the nice color they will also improve your braking performance immensely. Other accessories you might consider is a saddle bag; Honjo or Woody fenders are expensive but they will add TONS of style. No water bottle cage? Get a handmade stainless steel one from King Cage. I personally like their retro Iris cage.

Drillium for sure! Honjo fenders yes! Honey brooks Pro and amber shellac tan cork wrap. Silver racks front and rear. Shouldn't an X0-3 have thumbies, mtb brake levers, and the dummy levers out front? That looks more like an X0-1 with that setup, of course it would have 700 rims though. Sweet machine you got there. I'd love to get another one someday. Mine was a 22" with a taller stem and a LOT of seatpost showing.,,,,BD

Chipped, cracked and bent fenders, racks, tattered panniers and some stickers from out of the way places....oh and pedal it about 5K miles, that should do it

bikedued, other than the 105 levers and the brakes, I think it is original for 1994 which was the top of the line model for that year, OH yeah the brooks professional is not original, but I have the oringinal and have a honey B-17. I like the idea of yellow housing and wrap.
I'll look at the amber wrap too. thanks,
i've got a black front rack, but not a polished one. not sure I want fenders, but will consider them

Not sure if I like the idea of a black front rack on this bike unless it's something very stylish. Gotta make it shine, baby! If you want a front rack, go with something minimalistic like a Pass Hunter front rack from Velo Orange. Little touches here and there in stainless steel look awesome in any bike, IMO.

Mr Tunes, as the resident C+V expert on bikes that can only
be ridden by real men, secure in their own masculinity, I'd be
interested on your take on the fishnet Faggin shown above......
Is it enough on the questionable side of pimpin' to qualify me
as at least no longer giving a **** about what people think of me ?

Hey! Is that the Centurion I sent from NH a few years back? It does turn heads! The guy on it....
Rob, can you figure out the annual statistical report for GA?
If so Photobucket is easy. With the picture you wish to post opened to normal size, you should find a dialog box to the right which says "Links." Underneath this are four options; Email & IM, Direct Link, HTML code, IMG code.
The easiest to use is IMG code, just click on it (left click with a PC) and it will automatically copy into the clipboard. Next switch back to the BF post you wish to add the picture. Make certain the cursor is blinking on the line where you want the picture placed, and use Paste (Ctrl V on a PC or right click and select Paste, or use the Edit menu and select Paste). It's that simple. Hope this is helpful.

BTW, the bike looks great.
Fenders, racks, and some cool lights would be nice. Maybe a bag or two. I like the color suggestions of amber and honey.
Can you tell us more about your use of the Stokers faux brake levers near the stem? I can't see them being used as a hand rest that close to the stem, but maybe.

Really nice bike.
I don't think of touring bikes with triples and bar ends as head turners.
Agree with others, if you want flash and functionality hammered fenders, racks, bags - then do a tour with it.
If that's not enough new handlebar tape - yellow and with a matching saddle. Black saddles are not generally head turners.

the stokers are actually very comfortable to change to for a different position. I thought they were pretty cool and I don't think they were original. .

Not sure I'm there yet - I know the water bottle cages got to go and I'm not happy with the wrap. I still want to do some more polishing - got a dremmel tool for father's Day. The colonel helped me out with the racks. What do you think of the cable routing? Not quite the head turner yet, but maybe after some polishing and some stainless bottle cages.
