Volunteers wanted....
Allen Kuo of our forum is riding a C&V steel bike cross country, to benefit less fortunate folks.
He's a great guy and was a hard-working volunteer at NAHBS 2011. An excellent rider, and he climbs like a goat.
It would be neat to be able to have us drop in on him on his route, and embarass him into celebrity status among the group he's with. You can track him here: https://ridewithgps.com/users/29811/activities
However, they are already en route. There should be route prediction ability somewhere on this thread:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ss-the-country
I'm working slowly on getting a group of riders to meet up with him in eastern SC, but there are a lot of miles 'twixt him and there.
Any, and I mean any, folks that can hop out there and ride with him, on any day of the route, or buy him lunch, or make a donation to his cause, or just say hi, would be just great. You'll recognize him by the red/white steel bike.
I heartily encourage any of you, your fellow cyclists, cycling club, civic clubs, etc to try and take one day, if possible, to meet up with this group, try to find Allen, and greet him, let him know he's doing it right, and doing it well.
PS: it's the heat of the summer, and they're riding through the mid-South. Talk about a guaranteed weight-loss plan!

I'm going to keep bumping this....https://www.ridewelltour.org/page/rwt-southern-tour-1
The next week, they're riding across New Mexico
Then, of course, Texas
Then up into Arkansas,
Then across Tennessee, entering near Memphis, exiting near Chattanooga
Then down into Georgia (incl Atlanta)
Then up into South Carolina and basically across the center of that state.

He's riding an '87 Centurion Dave Scott Ironman Expert with a ding on the TT, and stress marks on both the DT & TT up by the HT. If the image of this bike being ridden cross country doesn't give a C&V guy an adreneline rush, somebody should check him for a pulse rate.
Did you also post this over on the "Touring" section?

Have him steer north to NC and I'll join in if I can. That way, he can ride to the outer banks and get more riding in!

I think the thread would grow more legs if you adjust the thread title so that people know this is in regards to a tour and not a one-place event. I skipped reading it at first because I thought, "Well, that won't apply to me. I don't live anywhere near RT."

He was 400 or so miles south of me when he was closest...... too bad.
