PICS ADDED! Korean made Koko 3000?
I am having a hard time finding info on these. There is one on my local CL but no pic. I plan on checking it out tomorrow in person. What can I expect for style & component quality?
Hoping for a ride for the hubs. Both our boys have bikes and I have 2, but he is tall and I am short so he can't ride mine. Local paved trail riding mainly. But he is a gear changer. I tend to use maybe 3 gears in town? He uses them all! He hasn't had a bike for a few years, always owned mountain rides. I think he might ride more on a thinner tire bike.
Google seems to reveal very little about Koko bikes, although oddly enough, it is a popular porn name.
edit:
so now it seems i think i need a fixie.

I've seen a handful of Korean bikes from the boom era and they were pretty crap. Several Kias, and one interesting "Shinwon" that had the logo styled to look like "Schwinn" if you weren't looking too closely
The Shinwon was interesting only in that it was a pretty blatant ripoff, but it was horribly made.
Hopefully the Koko wasn't made by its namesake.

Thanks for the reply.
I went and saw it today, parts are junk but the frame looks brand new with great decals. Between those and the obscure name, I went ahead and bought it with the intention(read....never gonna happen) of making it into a fixie. I'll post some pics later today or tomorrow.

These bikes are really hard to find info about. By the ders being Eagle & Thunderbird Shimano parts and looking original to the bike, it would seem maybe that this is a 1974-76 bike? Or maybe the model numer of "770" means it was a '77? I dunno, you google search this company and you get like 3 results that include anything about "bike". And all 3 SuperBikes I found were yellow 3 speed cruisers.
I dunno, seems like this one might be fun as a fixie. It is a bit tall for me though. I can stand over the TT with both feet on the ground but there is no clearance zone space.

Bikes: i don't have a bike. a few frames, forks and some parts. that's all
i didn't know they had a export name 'koko', but "3000"—it's a brand name, manufacturer was Kia* back then—was the biggest major brand bike in korea in 60 - 80's. my dad used to ride a 3000. as far as i know they were all factory-built mass production, except some really high-end track bikes—however, Korean bike racing history has nothing to write home, IIRC.
*: diffrerent Kia then nowadays, btw. they were military vehicle—mostly trucks and buses—company before getting merged to Hyundai in the late 90's. yes Hyundai is Kia's holding company now. (i'm from Korea)
it was more like a common 'citizen' everyday bike with ordinary factory-quality. to be honest with you, it wouldn't really add you much C&V value to your collection unless your aspect is just 'hard-to-find' third country made bike, IMO. nor much monetary value either.
from the photos, it doesn't look bad, tho.
like the color and interesting pipe-connector style lugs tho. looks well kept too.
should make a good SG or Fixie, no?
good luck

My dear Mrs toes: this bicycle cries out to be a fixed gear.
And this is not something I say lightly (OK maybe a little).
With a sealed BB unit with square tapers, a scrounged up alloy
crankset, and a set of decent 700c alloy flip flop hub wheels,
you would rock that "super bike" (lol) all over the hinterlands.
One vote here for "just do it."

Ah, so the brand is 3000, not the model! Okay, I could see that now.
Not going into it with dollar signs or hopes of flipping, I just like interesting. I bought this solely for the thought of making it a fixie. Wish it was 1 size smaller but that just increases the danger now, doesn't it

Well, that was 9:00 of my life I won't get back.
i must remember to cut off my glove tips, don't want no wind damage.
Where exactly do I put the bongos on there? Do they sell a special mounting kit? Do I play as I ride or is this a destination deal?
Oy vey....reminds me of overhearing one of my 11yo son's conversations.
