Restored Ciocc: eye candy
Oh, let's be frank: it's bike porn pure and simple...but the really good stuff!
Restored by Giovanni Pellizoli himself, built and photographed by Ray Dobbins, himself...it just doesn't get better than this.

enjoy (nudge-nudge)

Looks good, but after spending so much money on restoring/rebuilding, you would think they would have use cleaner, brighter, brake caliper hardware.

Very nice!
Certainly the deep rich finish is to my tastes just right.
FWIW I bumped into a fellow at the Nature Valley Grand Prix that was riding this beauty.

Awesome pics, I'm just about to put my Ciocc in the sandblasting cabinet. Nice motivating pics. Thanks

Beautiful. I have a soft spot for Ciocc bikes. The first really nice bike I owned was a San Cristobal.

Gomango when I get this finished we will talk about your frame. I do plan on taking pics of this one, I have a small ding in the seat tube I have to take care of.

No, it looks like the way the victory front dérailleur is hinged on the clamp. When it got tightened down it put a very small indent in the tube. Easy fix.

Stop polishing your parts......
Anthony contacted me last year for help with polishing some Ciocc pantographed parts, and that led to a very enjoyable collaboration which has finally produced the bike below.
While I was polishing the parts,

Very nice bike. Somehow I feel like the water bottle doesn't quite fit it, is it period correct with the bike and components? I used to think those campy bottles were very cool and I almost paid a lot of money for one but now I feel like they take away from the beauty of some frames.

Beautiful results and wonderfully captured in photos! Ciocc is iconic and a grail frame for me. I couldn't afford one while in college as a lad. I will find one in my size one day.
note: Only critique of Tony's Ciocc is that the rear Campagnolo Record hub dust cap is driven into the shell too deep. Shouild be flush with the shell edge.

And I have to say I think the ideal Ciocc restoration subject should be one with the earlier "pintail" perforated lugs (like those in that pic of the World '77) rather than these later "bikini" short tip lugs.
But...I'm not picking nits so fuggetaboutit.

my name is Jim
Very similar to mine, which is a San Cristobal with the tear drop lugs:

This is the largest bike I have. 63cm ctt. I can ride it fairly comfortably but the top tube is really too long. Can't bear to part with it though.
