With all due respect, any person with these qualifications;
"The first 2+ decades of my professional life I was a visual art "practitioner," i.e., I was a fairly respected designer and illustrator."
is the best person to decide what looks just right on his bicycle.
Again, not trying to be snarky, and I know it's fun to get opinions from others, but you probably have a better eye for deciding this question than any of us. I say go with what your experienced eye tells you.
Ask me and I'd probably say something awful like "very dark green".

Hmm, it seems I should actually offer and explanation for my Silver suggestion.
The white graphics of your bike are a very subtle accent to an otherwise Black and Silver (chrome, polished aluminum, etc.) bike. The heirarchy of color on your bike is Black>Silver>White. Where it sits right now is fairly balanced, with an edge going toward black (probably a bit too much, which is why you're currently asking us what color to change to. You already know there is too much Black.). The addition of white bar wrap is going to throw off the balance. It'll put the 'level' of white and silver too close together and you'll have those colors fighting for a spot in the hierarchy. The addition of more Silver will solidify that color in the middle of the range and maintain the balance.

I vote for white tape as well, either Fizik or Cinelli cork. I'd leave the hoods and saddle alone, as well as the cable housing. I would be interested to see the silver suggestion on the housing, etc. though.

You're totally right. And the thing is, I'm a pretty opinionated SOB when it comes down to the aesthetics too. Part of what I enjoy about this forum is hearing what others have to say and every once in a while (actually, a whole lot more often!), I'll be swayed by an opinion that might be absolutely contradictory to my own initial thinking. These threads are a great system of checks and balance, not to mention affirmation. (Still lovin' the suggestions!)

+1. And I vote for white perforated Fizik Microtek. I have it on my bike, and it wears great and looks classy. I also put on the silver Jagwire housing, so I'm prejudiced. For my tastes it looks good without the "pop" you'd get from white cable housing.
That is one heck of a great-looking bike, BTW!

Even though I advocated the perforated white, I agree with others that hoods should remain black White hoods would be a little precious looking.
And since all the accent are silver, I'd also get a silver seatpost clamp and maybe even water bottle cage. Just little touches, but a little more lightening up.

I'd go for red tape. Whatever you do stay away from white. White looks great for the first few days then it gets dirty and looks ****ty and old.

It looks like most of these wraps were done with the available gel inserts. I don't particularly like those, but I still think your bike would look good with the silver.
Some ish examples:
