What size of bottom bracket length do I need changng from 5 speed to 10

I have a mid 70's Carlton Corsa 5 speed, when I tried to fit a double chain ring to ugrade to a 10 speed there was no room for it,as it's too short.
What size of bb spindle do I need to fit on a double ring.
Any help would be great.

What crankset are you trying to install? The BB spindle length needed is dependent on the crank being used. See https://sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html for more details.

Not Williams brand I think it's a Raleigh own brand the type many bikes had in the early and mid seventies
