3 Speed Question
Alright--I'm super addicted to the English 3 Speed thread and now believe I will die if I don't own a 3 speed of my own at some point in the near future.
I'd particularly like a Raleigh, but I'd be open to pretty much anything English (anyone getting rid of a Robin Hood? lol) Forreal, though, if anyone is looking to sell, fill me in, please!
Now, to my real question:
There's a '73 Raleigh Super Course being sold close by. Is that a decent bike to convert?

I'd jump on the Super Course if you are up to converting it and it is a deal. It's a good frame with Reynolds tubing. It could be made into a really nice 3-speed. With alloy bars, stem, fenders, and wheelset you could make a real English 3-speed that is significantly lighter than anything 3-speed that came out of the Nottingham factory up until the 70's -but still a Thoroughbred Raleigh.

What part of TN are you located in? I have a three speed hub built in a 27 inch wheel just waiting for a bike.

If you build a 3-speed out of a super course, don't skimp on fenders and chainguard. And don't get the lightest you can find.

Thanks for the offer, man. If you don't mind, I'll keep you in mind and contact you if I'm in need of help?
But--someone beat me to the Raleigh.

Too bad! Just came back from a 10 mile ride along the river on my (Raleigh made) Glider.....I came to realize that it is the bike I always grab when I just want to go for a ride. I've got the Peugeot converted to 5 speed but want to convert it to IGH 3-speed (I have the hub and the rim, just waiting for winter to buy spokes). Something else will come along, and don't feel bad buying a decent one for a good price - its worth the ride.
