Simplex Juy 543. The cables...

As I mentioned in an other thread, I've found a 1956 Crescent racer with the famous Simplex Juy 543. After cleaning the bike all through (and discovering that the Fauber crank and crankbox, the pedals (with a "W" on the dust cap??) and the FB Brevete low flange hubs were all as technically sound as was the shifter) I've build the bike back up again. Except that I never installed that "second cable" on the shifter. I simply can't figure out how it's supposed to be set up and work. Is there a description or instruction or manual somewhere on the www, or could one of you fountains of knowledge enlighten me?

Yes, I've seen that one and plenty other, and none of them with a "Simplex Juy 543 installation for dummies" - but I'll check on Youtube, hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Nice picture, looks sorta like it's lifted form the original sheet packed with the derailleur, but it does not show the "merge" or "Y" of the two cables further forward.
