You guys are all so kind. I hope Racecat can see this in you, and come back to this thread with a change of heart. The typos, after all, are quite funny. We've all made the same sort of mistakes from time to time.

I become frustrated myself by not well written statements and questions, but I've come to the point that the best approach is to carefully listen and try your best to figure it out. My favorite expression, which is used very often in thread titles and opening lines goes something like this:

"Help me date my bike..." (which always sounds to me as if the person wants to take his/her bike out for a romantic evening :roflmao2:).

I feel I must apologize to the OP, and to the group, for starting off on the wrong foot.
OP, please forgive me and know that this place can be a really fun forum, and the folks are as great as anyplace on the net.
I don't text from a phone, in fact don't have a phone, and assumed the OP was ticking away on his phone in that "hurry up" language they use.

I've been guilty often enough of posting stuff in hmuor that was a bit "two suttle so that it luked like an insult". So I plead mea culpa for this event.

However it is difficult to offer useful answers when the question isn't fully understood. That the OP was typing on a broken cellphone pseudo-keyboard may explain the unintelligibility but that doesn't make it any better.

txtng seems 2B part of the prblm people who do it get into the habit of shrtcuts whch wrks OK if the readr knws the subject alredy with a technical discssn it dznt wrk so well u cant say smthng unambiguously when its all new stuff i dont know wht the solutn is i know ppl who wont check voxmail and dont ansr the phone but do txt all the time txt can be red whnevr the recvr wants to chck but a phone call has 2B ansrd whn it comes in how wd u describe re-blding a BB in a twttr msg i dont know

Thing is, I don't think he was even asking a question. His post ends in a thumbs up, and although hard to understand, seems to be made up of a few declarative statements about having gotten new bars. (His previous posts are in a similar style.)

I think his urge to communicate despite all odds were fascinating and commendable.

Agreed.

We aren't exactly swimming in new members around this place.

Let's make sure we don't send any more out w/o a hearing for goodness sakes.

I come here to escape a little from negativity and to check out cool bicycles.

I bet the op does as well.

I hope c&v stays positive for the most part.

Btw Some folks face a challenge or two to get through their days.

himespau 07-31-12 07:10 PM

what was the frame you traded for these handlebars?

rhm 07-31-12 07:17 PM

I dunno, guys. I mean, all the soul searching is very touching, but I think no one need beat themselves up over anything said here.

It is always interesting to see how people spend more time analyzing poorly written ghibberish than clear concise prose! But for all that, Racecat did not try very hard to communicate. In the end we know more about his computer keyboard than about his bike. And a busted keyboard does not explain the deplorable lack of editing. Pastor Bob's admirable translation notwithstanding, I still don't know what Racecat was trying to say, or why.

I need to admit I was mostly guessing. I have no idea how close I came.

Too bad, you could have gotten a nice sum for just the bars on eBay!
