Bridgestone NB-26 (1993) Brochure

I have noticed across the internet that many folks have been searching for info on an obscure bike model by Bridgestone: the NB-26. It was a low cost bike but still a great bike made in Japan. Here are images of the simple brochure that I still have:

Great Details on the Brochure

This info is perfect timing for me, as I'm going to look at an NB-26 for my better half tomorrow, over near Putnam, CT. I was surprised at how little information is on the internet for this model so your posting really helps. Bridgestone frames are supposed to be well designed and quality built.

Our shop handled only 3 NB26 bikes. We were selling a lot of the upper end models, but this model was not competitive with others in its class, which is why there is not much talk about them.

I'm going to guess that these are left over, down spec'ed CB-1 frames. I have one in full country bike mode and ride the heck out of it.

I have a '92 BB 1. It makes a fine commuter and utility bike.

We got the Bridgestone NB26

So, I bought the NB26. It looks like it has <100 miles on it, paint nearly perfect, all original, recently tuned/serviced @$80 cost to seller. Paid $100. It’s exactly what I wanted: Ladies frame, Perfect size for my wife, who maintains she wants to ride again... but didn’t want skinny tires or anything complicated, so we’ll see. She took a test ride around the seller’s rural property and gave it a thumbs up, but hasn’t touched it since. At least I won’t lose my shirt on it if she totally bails!

I realize the bike’s components are entry level Shimano Altus, but everything works like new and should be adequate for the Cape Cod Bike Trail, which is pretty level and smooth. I’ll replace the knobbies with road tires if she sticks with it. BTW, the workmanship and finish quality of of the frame appear to me to be very good. I don’t have enough posts to attach pics yet but will circle back whe I’ve reached the threshold. By then, we’ll probably reach out for some dialing in advice. Cheers
