I don't think his point was about pricing on Confentes, it was about trying to associate Confente with things that aren't Confentes and getting premiums just for dropping his name. I actually find the brand association thing irritating as well. The latest on Confente - Grandis was that Confente worked there as an apprentice for a week or two and left quickly, having done no work on the bikes.

However - if you can't beat em', join em!

I advertise all of my bikes as possibly having been ridden by Lance Armstrong and/or Greg Lemond. After all, it's POSSIBLE that they crept into my house, rode my bike and returned it without my knowledge.

Does anyone want to buy my possibly ridden by Greg Lemond and Lance Armstrong wheelchair?

I'm thinking I should base my collecting on anything related to the California Masis. Maybe by the time I have my Masi (check), Medici (check on the frame), Eisentraut, Baylis, Simonetti and Wizard (not yet, not yet, not yet, and not yet), the prices on Confente bikes will have come down a bit. But I suspect not.

So many bikes, so little time. (And so few places to hide them from my wife!)
