Will this peg fit in that hole?
Hello! New to the forums, but longtime lurker. If I do something wrong that I missed in the fAQ, just let me know! I did a search but this question is somewhat specific I suppose, so here goes:
I would like to buy this:
FRAMES
57cm Cannondale R-800 - super light, super dark purple, super awesome. aluminum frame made in the USA with threaded carbon fork. will make you go fast. $170
It is a 1994, the 2.8 frame I suppose?
And then add what parts I can from this:
Road bike - Cannondale R1000 - unridable due to crash, but good parts still attached. Ultegra 9 speed, triple, clipless pedals, handlebar stem, ultegra breaks and shifters, etc. Bike is around 10 years old.
Would anyone be able to tell me if this is possible? My thought is if you add the obligatory 100-150 extra dollars to the build for unknowns (not that many parts laying around at the moment), I could have a quick little roadie for actually a decent cost.
Thanks for reading!
PS: Of course, could just buy this or this... any advice is good advice...

The question I have here is the spacing between the rear dropouts, ie where the rear axle is. Not all bikes are created equal in the spacing department. The newer 9 speed casette may be too wide to fit in the R-800 frame, and since they are aluminum, they don't take kindly to respacing.

So all the drivetrain should fit. Headset/stem and seatpost TBD. My guess is that a threaded carbon fork is 1", by 9s days (the crash bike) it's 1 1/8"

Thanks for the quick info. I was worried about the spacing. I believe the stem should be upgraded because it is carbon, though it might be threaded (on the r800), but I can dig it.
"OLD" ? could you enlighten me as to what that acronym means? 130mm I assume, 8 and 9 speeds are the same spacing?
Thanks again!

OLD is Outer Locknut Dimension I believe... it is the width or spacing of the rear hub locknut to locknut. For road bikes, 8-11 speed all use 130mm. 120mm was for 5 speed, 126mm for 6-7 speed (ultra 7). As mentioned, aluminum cannot be cold set to a different spacing as far as I know. If the frame in question is 130mm, you should be good other than stem, etc. as mentioned.

Makes sense. So I should be set except for a quill stem. which is not a major issue, can get one that matches the handlebar diameter! Thanks everyone
