Mini velos are frustrating creatures to me. The SOMA and the Mercier in their smallest sizes still have a 28" standover. My girlfriend whom would want something mini still can't fit that. Why they come with such tall head tubes is beyond me.

She does however sport one of these frames:
HARRY HAVNOONIAN KIDS ROAD BIKE FRAME AND FORK 24"WHEEL NEW | eBay

Using these rims:
Sun Ringle M13 II Rim 24 x 1 1/8 inch Black 36 h Eyelets & NMSW ISO 520 x 18mm | eBay

and a Shimano Claris groupset. This frame has a 26" standover which works for her 4'11" height.

A 48 cm bike is too big a frame for people 5'0 ft and under. They typically have to go smaller than that or go custom.

No activity in this thread for a while... the 10mo I mentioned in an earlier post is now nearly 5 and riding a Bianchi branded 16er coaster brake kid bike. I went idly poking around and SOMA is still selling the BART frame, a kid length double crankset and a 451 wheel set. In 2016, I asked what the deal was via their FB page and they told me they weren't intending to order any more. So I guess they're still old stock. Not clearanced priced at $250, now $330 at Soma's store and $310 at Bikemania. I don't see a way to build it up to a whole bike with their parts and new shifters and brakes for less than a thousand, but I'm sure there's a cheaper way to go. It's really just a fantasy of mine to build a cool bike, I don't see him or his twin little brother and sister wanting a bike like that, and it's not in the budget.

Had a Peugeot Jr frame once, but then realized with many many granddaughters it would take a long time before they would be able to step over, so I went with high quality small Mixte frames, one riding now at 8 another to follow at 8 with the bike in my closet with all its build goodies waiting. Nicest thing they get full sized wheels which means balance at much lower speed and less twitchy/wobble steering. But these are lovely and rare bikes, kind of the Formula 2 on the way up.

The Libertas even has the seldom seen OFMEGA alloy cotterless juvenile chainset.

Arm length here is 127mm.
