News flash - fat middle aged old guys on vintage race bikes are no less cool/dorky/out of place than the same people on a recumbent
Even in a Lycra Unitard?

What's your favorite Flavor of Kool-Aid?
Red with Meat, Orange with fish or poultry

Just wanted to say I find the expression "drinking the Kool-Aid" hilarious, given its tragic origins.

by tragic you mean awesome I take it.
I'm of the opinion that "Drinking the Kool-Aid" as it were is a good way to do some mental housekeeping every once in a while

I wouldn't know about awesome...

The basis of the term is a reference to the November 1978 Rev. Jim Jones Jonestown Massacre,[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] where members of the Peoples Temple were said to have committed suicide by drinking Flavor Aid (not actually Kool-Aid) drink laced with cyanide.

Acid (LSD)-laced Kool-Aid preceeded Jonestown by a considerable period of time. Not that I'd know anything about that...

See, "Flavor Aid" is the opperative word here. Saying "I haven't drunk the Flavor Aid" would be...well...grim. But Kool Aid....who doesn't like Kool Aid?

The phrase can also be used in the opposite sense to indicate that one has embraced a particular philosophy or perspective.

Alice: Hey, did you hear that Joe is working on the Nader campaign?
Bob: Yeah, he really drank the Kool-Aid on that one.

compliments of the Urbandictionary.com

Acid (LSD)-laced Kool-Aid preceeded Jonestown by a considerable period of time.
We used White Lightning...same concept I reckon?

Oh good old Wikipedia....the obviously correct answer to all of life's mysteries we have no first hand knowledge of.

I'd wager if either of them were still alive that Ken Kesey and Owsley would argue they'd been serving up Kool-Aid since the mid-60's.

I'll stick with the Merry Pranksters over the Religious Nutters.

Nutters!..Ohhh I'd forgotten about Nutter Butters peanut butter sandwich cookies...soooo good with purple Kool-aid.....Oh say, anyone want to join a bicycle cult...oh, right....we're already there.

This freight train of thought reminds me, I haven't sipped from the Rivendell Chalice yet....maybe an Atlantis?

Yeah, I'm going Tom Wolfe on this one. Even the Book predated the massacre by a decade.
