Schwinn Paramount

Hi,
New to ebay and recently saw this bike:
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...128160152&rd=1
It looks like an 86-87 Paramount - asking price 2,000? Any ideas on if it's worth this much? I've got a similar bike (1986 actually - not in as good of shape though) and I'm looking to sell, but I don't know what it's value is, any ideas? Thanks,
James

The bidders will tell you what it is worth.

Sure would be nice if yours goes for that. Wait and see, or put yours up for bidding now with a "buy it now" and undercut the other guy.

You can also be sneaky and take note of the bidders on this ride. When they lose, contact them with your sweet deal.

Good luck,

ehenz

there is nothing "rare" about an 87 Paramount like the bike in that auction. I have and 86 and 87, and you can look at the production numbers at Waterford's website. They are beautiful bikes- certainly a great ride, and very well built. I paid 300 for my 86 frame on ebay, and it was in near mint shape. The big hitters are the 60's and 70's Paramounts. The Japanese Paramounts didnt start showing up until around 89. Not as nice as a Waterford, but as a previous owner of one, they were pretty darn nice too. Nice 80's Paramounts with Campy Super Record could fetch around 700-800 if it was clean- I wouldnt pay more than 700 for the bike in the listing. 2k is simply foolish- You would be better off buying a used Waterford with modern Campy or Shimano parts for less.

I am still riding my third-hand Pretendamount and love it. Once in a while some know-it-all sniffs at it and says something to the effect of, "You know, it's not really a Paramount, don't you. It was built in Japan."

I respond in my best good ole boy accent, "Well, I don't know nothin' about that. Hell, I only give the fella $125 for it. Rides a damn sight bettern' that old J.C. Higgins bike I used to ride."

That's pretty good, Olebiker. I would have a tough time not responding to them with a simple "bite me".

not a paramount, definately not worth 2k.
The bike the OP refers to on ebay is a Paramount and is not either of the bikes shown in the thread referenced above. It is definitely not a Voyager.
