Is this the end of cycling as we know it???

Weren't the first bicycles powered the same way......there must have been a good reason why it evolved away from that method of propulsion.....Another weird, retro nonsense design I think......Or people are just getting too dumb to figure out how to shift their gears??

Finally, a personal transportation system for those who deem the Segway not dorky enough.
Alas, wish I knew how to bet on the stock market that this would be the worst commercial flop since carbonated milk.

Bikes: The keepers: 1969 Magneet Sprint, 1971 Gitane Tour de France, 1973 Raleigh Twenty, 3 - 1986 Rossins.

Suddenly carbon fiber road bikes with Shimano Di-2 and the attached computer/data linkage looks sensible. And then there's this little matter of no brakes . . . . . . . . . .

That seems truly awful. The rider cannot even stand up when they are not in motion, you are trapped in that hunched over position. It's funny that the video seems to be shot going slightly downhill. I bet it's not pretty going up hill in that thing.

This is at least the fourth thread on the subject.

From the comments to the article:

Wow, I'm impressed. I don't think the Germans have come up with something this stupid since the holocaust.

Plus, your back is going to get sore just waiting at a red light. Or would you just take the crosswalk? Now that I think of it, I don't even think this is street legal. At least according to my reading of the CA vehicule code, a "rider" on this contraption would be considered a pedestrian.

I saw it in the "irrelevant news" section at the bottom of the Fox News site.
Right between Lindsay Lohan and Jesse Jackson.

Now we can wear out tires and shoes at the same time.
He's not going far in those skinny jeans.
Looks like we'd have to turn our biking shorts around, for ..... protection.
I sure can't see it impressing the chicks.

Sort of like the Big Bang Theory meets Orange County Chopper.
(I do kinda wanna see Penny strapped into that, though....oops, wrong forum)

Now, I can't wait to see what the Japanese do with it.

Didn't Mr. Garrison already come up with something like this?

Interestingly, that definition leaves out penny-farthings.
