Free shipping - niagara cycle + $100 orders

Saved me $13.50. Ordering at Niagara Cycle is like shopping at Costco, it's hardly ever less than $100!

Don't shop there if you live in Canada (maybe other countries also). If you buy over $200, they'll hit you with a $76 hidden charge for brokerage processing. Not brokerage fees, but just for the paper work done on the shipping at their end. They did this to me. I wrote them and complained, and they wrote back that this fee is disclosed in there frequently asked questions page, so I should have known. They should have it showing on there check out page beside the shipping fees. I wrote them back that I will never shop there again.

In general, I avoid them at all costs. They pretty much suck accross the board.

I've bought a lot from them over the years, slow service, really slow, is the norm. Dropping items loose in a wheel box lightly taped is the norm as well. My last order was missing three chains, several seat post binder bolts, etc. They replaced all the items for no charge. But they are pretty sloppy.

Their high shipping drove me to Jensen USA, where the prices tend to be higher, but they price match everybody (and free shipping for $50 orders).

Niagara continues to be the cheapest one out there on many common consumables, like KMC chain. I hold my nose, set low expectations, and reluctantly order from them.

I think this has to be the best thing ever to happen at Niagara.

I did have my own problems with incredibly sloppy packaging on a large order from Niagara 16 mos ago, and the mistake wasn't handled well imo.

I have to pay sales tax from Jenson here in CA, but have been very pleased with every order.

I've always had good luck with Niagara, and their prices are the best around on an "everyday price" basis.

They order daily from QPB, two days and it's at the store.

I have to say that I sort of feel indebted to Niagaracycle. I asked someone else a question that they, Niagara, and 2-3 other vendors carried. I asked the other shop first because they were cheapest, but they never responded. Then asked Niagara because they were the only one I'd never heard from. They said they'd respond within 48 hours and at ~ 3 days hadn't, so I went with the cheapest guys and just bought it hoping it was right. Then Niagara wrote me back. They couldn't find the product info easily so they contacted their supplier and didn't get back to me right away because it went over the weekend and the supplier was closed. So they put in the extra effort and got me the answer I needed, but I'd already ordered the part from someone else. To make it up, my next order will be from them just as soon as I figure out what they have that I want and have the money to drop on it (overspent my bicycle budget last month getting what I thought was everything I needed to finish a build). So yeah, they have been slow-ish a couple of times, but have always done right by me.

Poor programming too. I won't bother, the click-throughs required just to get to a cluster of items is beyond reasonable.

Basically, I just do most of my shopping for bikes parts by first using google shopping. Often Amazon gets pulled up and a decent amount of time Niagara cycle selling through them is the vendor. So once I know that niagara has it for a reasonable price, I go to their website and search for it directly. Browsing there is a pain.

They short-changed me on a SA indicator chain, a part of a few dollars... that or they threw it in loose and it got lost in transit. Didn't even get a reply when I complained about it. I found that shipping to Canada was cheaper when buying stuff through amazon but I got nailed with brokerage from UPS on the last order so I won't be ordering from them anymore... Jensen has that all up front.

I still like Niagara, but I think they used to be much more consumer-friendly. You could place small orders (e.g., a few brake cables), and they would send them USPS first class mail. They charged actual shipping cost, which was very little on such orders. Since I live in Eastern NY, the packages would arrive in 2-3 days. As nearly as I can tell, they don't do this any more, and the last couple of packages have taken much longer to arrive. They are still competitive, in terms of price, on consumables, but you have to order a fairly large quantity to make the shipping charge worthwhile (or, now, to get the free shipping). I think they used to be cheaper on some higher cost items (hubs, rims, etc.), but I find that now I can often get as good or better deals from Treefort, Jenson, Cambria, or other vendors. And I agree that their website is a nightmare to navigate.

I ordered from BikesOnline.com about ten days ago, and still see my order status as "pending".

Seems slow, but the prices were somewhat awesome.

Anybody ordered from these folks before?

The challenge I have with some of the competitors to Niagara on matching prices, is they don't always carry the part. A couple of examples: Z30/33 chain, rolls of lined housing in colors, I typically buy from Niagara. So free shipping is going to save me some $$.

Just about everything else is either Jensen or a super sale at Nashbar.

The reason I won't buy from them is they refuse to ship to Canada via the postal service where you only get hit with a $5 processing fee if they even bother to process it. They insist on shipping by UPS which automatically means a brokerage fee regardless the size of your order.

Niagara dropped a few things on one of my orders, but they were honest about it and got back to me. They are slow but it's hard to move faster than either Amazon direct or Nashbar.

I ordered a set of bars once from Niagara, and they didn't have them. In fact, they couldn't locate them anywhere. I called "horse*****" and went online to find them at another dealer. No dice. Niagara was right, and they also suggested another set of handlebars that worked out great. Nice folks those Niagara peeps.

As for the website, it blows beaver choad.

I've ordered quite a bit from them. Their prices are ok and their selection of stuff eliminates the need to order from multiple places. They are slow however. They basically pass your order to a wholesaler and then assemble and ship your order once they get it. I think they are ok and will continue to use them.

Ebikestop.com has been pretty good for me, and they offer free shipping @100 just about all the time. Their search/catalog engine isn't very good, but they carry quite a bit of stuff.

They are horrible, but I still placed an order yesterday, total was $110, probably save close to $25 though elsewhere, cheaper prices, free shipping, and no multiple shipments/charges, because I don't think there is anyone else out there that has the amount of items they have at discount. Now the waiting begins...
