Clinking Clanking Noise

So I've got this noise coming from what I believe to be the pedals...

My pedals are originals from 1975, and are bent to pieces (I believe I'll be getting some newer ones soon), but I was wondering if the noise I'm hearing is possibly coming from the pedals.

Sometimes, I can feel a little kick in the pedal when I'm biking, so I really do believe the noise has to be coming from them, but is it plausible?

process of elimination

swap pedals for another set.

this goes true with many noises you cant put your finger on.
I had a crank noise not long ago.

That's what I figured was going to be the advice. I should be getting some here pretty soon.

It's either the pedal or the bb/crankset.

or take the lock off.

Wheels can clink and clank too if you are having some spoke tension issues.....

Are the crank bolts tight? Loose crankarms can click.

As far as I can tell, yes, the crank bolts are tight. If the clink doesn't go away with new pedals, I'll definitely look further into crank bolts & spoke tension. Anything else I should consider?

Check and see if your rear derailleur is stuck in your spokes. Also your bike lock could be dragging along behind you.

Noises can come from a lot of places. It's hard enough trying to pinpoint noises while on the bike, and next to impossible over the internet. +1 to process of elimination.

I guess I forgot to ask, do you feel the "kick" in the pedal at the same time you hear a sound?
Top of the stroke or bottom of the stroke? Both sides?
If the sound comes at the same time each revolution, it's more likely pedals or cranks.
If it skips a revolution, it's more likely chain.

As far as sound, is it still there when you're out of the saddle?
I've got a saddle that creaks, and it drives me nuts.

You may have to throw the bike away, but probably not.

Switch Pedals... Check your crank arm with a tork wrench... Consider the Master Link on your chain... Check the teeth on your crank... Ping your spokes... Pressure wash your bike...

Dam I hate noises that I don't know where they come from...

I did, too. I thought it was the Ti/steel interface on the Davidson, although I greased that thing up well before installing. I finally silenced the creak by applying a tiny, tiny bit of lube to the seatpost's bolt threads and the serrated interface area of both alloy cradles.

For most creaky noises: when in doubt, lube it out

Ditto. Makes me absolutely bat ***t crazy... and the heck of it is that nine times out of ten (for me, anyway) tightening the seat has eliminated the noise.

But the sounds never sound like they are coming from that region, and guess what the last thing is that I check...

I just had a nasty creak that turns out came from my right side pedal. What I did was pedal with only one side, and then the other. In my case, the creak only came when I pedaled with my right foot. Turns out my pedal needed some lube, so I removed the cap, squeezed some tri-flow lube in there and no more creak.
