Want to pick someone's memory

I grew up on a hand-me-down red single speed bike that had "Clean Machine" across the guard. My guess is it was from the very early 80's if not the 70's. Wanted to know if anyone is familiar with this bike, or if it was a cheapo store brand. I recently found out my mother decided to throw it (and a nice old Schwinn) away because they needed tires

Figured this would be the place to ask, so I appreciate any info someone may know on it!

Robbie, was that a cheapo brand found in department stores?

Not really as much "cheapo" as "solid generic."
Schwinns were outside the reach of myself and most of my friends.
Our "bike shop" was the local TrueValue, Ace, or Coast-Coast stores.
Their bikes lasted as long as most bikes, and were not collector items, just bikes you could ride.
They also used generic parts, available at the same stores. Schwinns did not.
The bikes were solid, dependable, and simple.

Thank you Robbie, I was thinking about that old bike and would love to find one if for nothing more than nostalgic reasons. I had a newer 18 speed mountain bike, but always chose the "Clean Machine" over it to ride.

Mine was from Western Auto, believe it was the Western Flyer from around 1969/70. Not a Schwinn but a solid bike that I rode the tires off of it, dad had to buy new tires about 9 months in because I wore them out riding so much. Bike was stolen right before we moved.
