Miyata Project

The details do indeed appear to support your assessment; yours is certainly sharing in many with the Pro-Miyata model as per the 1981 catalog:

BB cutouts, sloping fork crown (+ reinforcements w/circular cutouts), lug cutouts, etc. And that paint!
More info on geometry/measurements there could further bolster that assessment, perhaps, but certainly appears to be a Pro.
A worthy project indeed. I expect it's a very fine ride. I have recently been enjoying a 1986 Miyata 912 that I just built up these past couple of weeks. They certainly seem to have earned their reputation for quality.
A machine that will continue to provide good service for a long time yet - and staying in the family. Best of luck on painting and build!
