Weinmann levers on a Legnano

So here is my problem.

On this bike
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...hlight=legnano
Check picture 2 to see the difference.
There are 2 models of levers being used.
One has a hole in the side for the so called comfort brake levers.
Here is the one i think i need

My problem is that i don't know what model was original on the bike when sold new. The family from the 1st owner couldn't tell any info regarding this and because i want to fit the correct levers as it left the factory this is a important issue for me.

Knowing this legnano isn't a low end model it wasn't fitted with a comfort level lever as i find this not 'matching' with the overall quality of the bike.

After seeing both type levers being advertised in weinmann catalog's from 75 and 83 as being race model levers i lost track.

However maybe there are some members that can throw in some light on this issue.

The ones with the extra hole are up for grabs the one without are a pain to find.

Legnano bicycles have been around for a long time and there were different models. My guess is you will need either Universal Model 61 or 68 brakes and levers...

If you have good pictures of the bike to help with identification, send them to this thread. And, if the brakes are either 61 or Super 68, send me a PM or email me through my website, MY "TEN SPEEDS".

If you still need a Weinmann Lever PM me, as I have a box full of them I know I can put one together to match the one you have.

Since your brakes are Weinmann 500's with no quick release, your levers should be the Weinmann ones with a quick release, like the picture in this thread. The style of the quick release on the lever changed over the years, but the one in your picture is correct for the late 70's. There are also different barrel adjuster styles-- the photo in your other thread shows a different barrel.

I don't see any signs of 'comfort levers' or 'turkey wings' or the like in any of your pictures.

I'm not that familiar with Legnano but that is definitely not a turkey lever bike. Go with the levers with no hole.

Randyjawa,
Legnano esspecially the newer ones used beside the universal type brakes also weinmann and this is 100% authentic.

Busdriver1959,
Yes, based on the reply's i too am more or less convinced the 'no extra hole' version should be the correct one.

Rhm,
Yes, good info and i no am like stated above more or less (sadly the family couldn't give any definite answer) convinced this is the correct one to have.

Michael Angelo,
Yes, you have a pm

Thanks everybody for the input as it's more clearer now it's appreciated.
