Anyone here been in contact with Angelo Galmozzi recently? Is he still available to take inquiries about frame authenticity? Thanks.

long time lurker - first post! I recently picked up this Galmozzi. Still trying to locate some age appropriate parts but happy with the over all look. Any guesses to which year it is? On the top tube says "Champion du Monde" - could that be original? Attachment 557031
Attachment 557032 Attachment 557033The first photo is how looked when I got it. Thanks in advance for any help dating it! |

If you host them in a free gallery anywhere just view them in your browser and copy the link. When you make your post click the little mountain and past the URL in the popup. That way they will be posted as large as they are viewed in the gallery. |

There are a couple Galmozzis in Minnesota that are very nice.
One of the fellows is a forum member and maybe if we are lucky he will post a pic. |

I raced way back when and there were two brothers (twinns?) from Minnesota, Scott Flanders and Jim? Flanders, sponsored by Hoki carpet sweepers. Anyway, I think one or both of them rode GalMozzis. Maybe they or their bikes are still in Minnesota.
I also worked with Wheelgoods and raced for a period around the mid 70s to early 80s. FWIW Four of our De Rosas came from Flanders and we have two left at this point. In fact, I just repurchased a 1990 De Rosa that came from Flanders. I recall many interesting brands offered at that shop, but have no recollection of them racing Galmozzis. Certainly could have I suppose.... |

There are also 2 hash marks on the bottom bracket - I have no idea what they could represent. I'm also finding no frame number on this bike - Where should it be?
Thanks! |
I gave this one its own thread but just for completeness:

My refinished early 1960s Galmozzi with Campy Record, Universal 51 brakes, and Fiamme bar/stem. 56cm center to top. The bike rides beautifully.

It's always a pleasure seeing this thread pop up. How's about some ride reports?
|
I will never not click on this thread. Cool bike and nice chrome work. Did you have the chrome redone as well?
What's up with the saddle rails? Are they intentionally bent? |
Thanks for the kind words. I purchased the frameset through a local friend's contact in Italy. It came to me as a restored frameset. The chrome was redone. I bought the saddle out of Italy thinking it was leather, but it is actually thick HARD plastic. There is a small badge riveted to the back that reads "S. Marco," which I'm assuming means San Marco, and is probably the right age for the bike. The saddle rails do not look to be modified to me, but I can see why you would ask? I have taken the bike for short rides and it feels like a good solid bike, but I'm going to change out the saddle for a unicanitor I have on hand for a little more comfort....

Chanced upon this listing for one dated by seller as 1978. Perhaps the experts may wish to comment... https://s.sbito.it/images/78/78666506805787.jpg https://s.sbito.it/images/78/78666506820613.jpg https://s.sbito.it/images/78/78666506814863.jpg https://s.sbito.it/images/78/78666506842441.jpg https://s.sbito.it/images/78/78666506832735.jpg https://s.sbito.it/images/78/78666506851847.jpg https://www.subito.it/biciclette/bic...-216303326.htm ----- |

Another nice Galmozzi
Here's my Galmozzi - I inherited it from my dad, who bought it new from Velosport in Berkeley, CA in the early 1970's. I'm interested in selling it, and will post it on the sale forum in this website.
