I do have a photo - will post soon. I spoke to the guys I ordered from and they told me they'd try to make a warranty claim.

It stinks about the tire. I've only ridden clinchers, so I can't speak to them.

BTW, that bike is exceedingly cool IMO. To my eye, the fenders add a lot of character to the bike and make it more useful besides. Given the quality of the stuff in your collection, and getting an opportunity to see it in the flesh, I think this is the most special bike you have.

Photog - thanks man, that means a lot from you. I consider my triplet the most special bike that I have and it has the most significance to me based on the father-son bonding and riding on that bike.

My new favorite for all around use is the Kenda Small Block 8.

From crappy city streets to the river bottoms, they are the way to go for me.

Cheap to buy, but a lot of value.

Where are you going to ride the bike most of the time?

I'm assuming those are clinchers...the rims are tubies on the Cinelli.

It will mostly see riding on pavement, but it will see occasional gravel.

Cinelli it seems somewhere between 1968 and 1971 updated the basic geometry of the Supercorsa.
This one looks like it will be a great all day bike.

Regarding the head badge, my take would be to leave it alone, IF the paint was better, It is not. The future for this bike will be a rechrome and repaint I think, the lugs are just too pretty in chrome.
Only way I would not rechrome would be if you went with yellow and red scheme, which while not correct for the bike is Cinelli and avoids the cost and risk of chrome.

Actually, I definitely stand corrected. The triplet is THE most special machine you have. The Cinelli is the most special one-third-bike in your collection. ;)

Tires are hard to get warrantied...so many easy outs for the manufacturer. Schwalbe seems to be good with honoring stuff...Challenge will be challenging (I kill me) methinks.

What about some of the Conti offerings from the UK???

I love Contis, easily my favorite tire on the planet, but they don't really make a tubular in a wide width. I think it will be hard for them to claim this isn't manufacturing; the tear is on the inside, right at the stem.

Did you mention where they were purchased?

My shop would do a fast exchange, especially if they installed a tub.

A small price to pay for such beauty. I never quite eradicated rattling (on rough surfaces) from the VO fenders on my '82 Superior either - but it doesn't bother me in the least bit.

Benadas and congrats! I've wanted a Cinelli since 1964. SIGH! Anway ... if you do as some say above, and just repack and smother it in grease to keep the rust off — please take that dorkish seat off. I know that they do adorn some shrine-velo that comes up in photo-bucket. I don't care — these saddles look like *****s!

HUGE QUESTION: can you please exhibit the 'salmon pink' you mention for Cinelli. I have a special reason for asking.

Update -

Challenge managed to replace the tire and STILL annoy me; they denied responsibility but are replacing as a "courtesy". So they still irritated me, but are also losing the tire. If you're going to replace the tire, why not be pleasant about it? This way you still aggravate the customer and are out the replacement.

Also - even with the replacement, I'm out the $15 in shipping both ways. Sometimes the LBS is a better option. I tried buying from my LBS, but they said it would take a few weeks...this way was supposed to save time. Whoops!
