Please recommend a wheelbuilder in Chicago
I’m going to have new Sun CR18 rims installed on my 1980 vintage wheelset. The wheels will retain the 36 hole Campy Neuvo Record high flange hubs.
I know a few local bike shops with competent wheelbuilders on-staff. However, I would like to find a wheelbuilder with ample experience with the old school hubs. http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...IMG_0990-1.jpg |
Tati Cycles is always intriguing...

Talk to Oscar Wastyn at Wastyn Cycles. He's built a few wheelsets for me and I've seen him bring back to life wheels that other people would have thrown away. Mention my name, it might not get you a discount but he knows me pretty well now.

Old school wheel building is easier than new school. High spoke count enable lower tensions are less so it is easier to true. Anywhere should be fine.

Think about doing it yourself. It's a basic skill that is easy to teach yourself. All you really need is a spoke wrench and flathead screw driver. You can use your bike as a truing jig.

Yeah, we can walk you through it, and you'll have a top notch product in the end.
