Bikes: Ridley Helium SLX, Canyon Endurance SL, De Rosa Professional, Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra, Schwinn Paramount (1 painted, 1 chrome), Peugeot PX10, Serotta Nova X, Simoncini Cyclocross Special, Raleigh Roker, Pedal Force CG2 and CX2
Please recommend a wheelbuilder in Chicago
I’m going to have new Sun CR18 rims installed on my 1980 vintage wheelset. The wheels will retain the 36 hole Campy Neuvo Record high flange hubs.
I know a few local bike shops with competent wheelbuilders on-staff. However, I would like to find a wheelbuilder with ample experience with the old school hubs.

Talk to Oscar Wastyn at Wastyn Cycles. He's built a few wheelsets for me and I've seen him bring back to life wheels that other people would have thrown away. Mention my name, it might not get you a discount but he knows me pretty well now.

Think about doing it yourself. It's a basic skill that is easy to teach yourself. All you really need is a spoke wrench and flathead screw driver. You can use your bike as a truing jig.
