never seen that particular piece before. If you find it please report back, I might consider one also. I call it is a headset mounted cable guide..

Bikes: 72 Cilo Pacer, 72 Gitane GT, 72 Peugeot PX10, 73 Speedwell Ti,l, 75 Peugeot PR-10L, 80 Colnago Super, 81 Zinn, 85 ALAN Cross, 85 De Rosa Pro, 86 Look 753, 86 Look KG86, 89 Parkpre Team, 90 Parkpre Team MTB, 90 Merlin

I have no absolutely no idea. Can't even imagine what it's for. It's above where the DT shifters go, so it can't be for shifter cables. Totally stumped.

Those look like cable stand-offs for STI or Ergo shifting cables. They would solves the issue of cable housing chaffing the paint on the head tube, which is a common problem with modern shifter setups.

I'm with the G, so we'd have to call it a "HMCG"

I believe that's what's called a "doodad."

The downtube bosses have barrel adjusters mounted on them. This bike would be used with brifters or bar ends shifters.

I've never had someone tell me what they're called.. I'd call them brazeon cable housing guides, though I see the OPs example looks like it might be pressed in with the headset?

Without them the cables might wear paint off:

Isn't a Doodad a Zefal item?

I think I have seen this before but don't know what it would be called. Did you try problem solvers?

Here is something similar

https://www.singlespeedparts.com/cabl...-hd514sth.html

I think that is an origin 8 one

I get it. It was a failed attempt at facetiousness. I only do DT shifters.

This. It's basically a cable stand-off guide to keep the shifter cables from rubbing against the head tube paint.

In fact, many newer framesets built from the get-go for integrated brake/shifters don't have downtube shifter bosses, but have head tube braze-ons with integral barrell adjusters like this one from Ellis Cycles (Dave Wages).

I had a Felt that had the same setup-guides/adjusters on the head tube.
Same with a Marin Portofino, I think.

Just checked the Bob Jackson site, and it offers under Brazed on Fitting "cable stops on lower headlug." Again, I recognize the part on the OP's bike appears to be pressed into the headtube with the lower cup.

Another stunning bike. I poked around that site at work but the download speed was too slow. I'll check it out later this weekend.

I was thinking more along the lines of the opening credits of The Spy Who Loved Me, but I suppose we're in agreement...

I would have elected for frame-cable-thingy-puffer, but Scooper's cable stand-off guide seems an excellent ascription.
