I can't volunteer my services, mostly because I can't even get my own projects done. However, if you need help in Fort Worth, I happen to know that Micah, a mechanic at the Performance Bike on Hulen Street, is a good vintage mechanic.

In Ann Arbor or anywhere around here, please PM me if you want some help. I'll be honest about what I can do for you or not. I work a lot, so scheduling might be tight.

I'm much better at friction drivetrains than at indexed. I can usually get some extra reasonable life out of a set of wheels - have spoke wrench, can true!

Sinks are all installed - hooray! :)

If I can help anyone for the next year, you'll have to be living somewhere within 38 miles of one end or the other of this:

I suppose anything's possible, right?

Anchorage, AK. If your bike makes it here, I can help.

If I ever get the notion I could theoretically ride my fatbike to Alaska... or in Alaska.

Great quote! I haven't seen that movie in years.

Damn. Look at the snorkeling possibilities! From that altitude anyway, that place looks gorgeous.

Oh, yes - the snorkeling is to die for. Too bad there's not a decompression chamber any closer than Singapore, though - it would be awesome to scuba dive, too.

I'll be posting plenty of pics over the next year, although my contributions to the "Where Did You Ride Today?" thread will get stale after a month or two :)

Jealous! I definitely caught the snorkeling bug after this weekend... I went to Karimun JAwa, which is one of Indonesia's prime locations... beyond awesome (and I found Nemo, too!).

Los Angeles here. I'm already a volunteer at the west side co-op Bikerowave but I have some tools of my own.

Birmingham, AL - a lone C&Ver in the midst of carbonistas. (Actually I have been joined by one early 80's Klein rider). No BB tapping or alignment tools, but I have lots of other stuff, build my own wheels, etc., and will have a much improved workspace very soon. (I helped rafter, sheathe and paper the roof of my shop/storage this weekend).

What island is this?

"Diego Garcia," according to the image name. A little atoll in the middle of the Indian Ocean, ostensibly a British protectorate, but currently being used by the US military as a staging area for actions in the Middle East and central Asia, among other things.

One of these threads might need a lock with a link to the other thread, use an old Krypto lock with the barrel key so we can unlock it with a Bic pen in case we need/want to.

I'm about halfway between Milwaukee and Sheboygan just off a gap in the Interurban MUP trail.
I also occasionally get flagged off the local craigslist by one or two local net nannies low balling numbskulls so I guess that means I have some mechanannial aptitude. (i also misspell on purpose sometimes which is a side effect of a slightly off center dry sense of humor.)

I'm on Cape Cod. You don't want me working on your bike...but I have some tools and would be glad to help if you find yourself stranded on the Rail Trail, etc.

I'll be moving out of Maplewood in about August, taking up main residence in Greenwich Village (in Manhattan).

Two words, rootboy; PEX (fittings) & PVC. Amazing stuff, as the PEX, especially, kind of reinvented diy plumbing.
