Some better pictures today for rootboy. I bought this small shockproof point n shoot camera after I destroyed the old one on an MTB ride and I still haven't quite figured it out. these photos are a little betterhttp://i271.photobucket.com/albums/j...P1010333-1.jpg

I wrapped the bars in Viva beige cotton tape, then varnished with clear shellac. I really like the color

A little better!? Man. With that background, that bike really jumps off the page. I can't think of a better color to contrast that bike against. Those are beautiful Northbend, thanks. What a bike.

Chicago Al 01-11-13 05:31 PM

Just beautiful.

gomango 01-11-13 05:42 PM

The colors on the bicycle blend exceptionally well.

I'm etching this color scheme into my head for a future project.

Have fun!

She's exceptional.

rootboy 01-11-13 05:45 PM

Yes. The different shades, saddle, bar wrap, hoods, frame.....all a very complimentary package.

northbend 01-11-13 06:39 PM

Thanks for the compliments. Now if spring would just hurry up n get here I can hardly wait to do some long rides on this thing

You're right about the background. I actually put a little effort in those photos. The light was pretty good when I got home from work so threw the bike in the car and drove around the valley trying to use different backgrounds for a photoshoot and that cream color is almost chameleon like. It kinda blends in with bricks

Finally gave up and drove home and shot those pictures against my garage door.

Money shot.

That's my new wallpaper right there.

So, what camera did you buy again?

rootboy 01-11-13 07:55 PM

Yeah, that one is also very nice. Great light. I'm keeping that 'in front of the green door' shot though. With your permisio of course, Northbend.

Alex Moll 01-11-13 09:33 PM

Gorgeous! What a bike. Love the cream-n-chrome, with the pin-stripes in between. Style and class. You need to show this bike at the Expo in March! Can't wait 'til spring myself.

southpawboston 01-11-13 09:51 PM

Nomination for best of C&V bikes, Northbend. Your upgrades were done in perfect taste. Good choice on the Grand Bois bars, they're perfect new replacements for bikes of this caliber. And the TA Hbar cage is a sweet touch. I thought about doing that with my Mercian; with your lead I will certainly follow!

Panasonic DMC-TS20 Lumix

Thanks again you guys!

Captain Blight 01-14-13 08:44 AM

Are those the reproductions of the old AVA Rando bars?

northbend 01-15-13 08:11 AM

Aye Captain, they are

ColonelJLloyd 01-15-13 08:15 AM

What do you reckon is the fattest tire you can fit to that bike?

photogravity 01-15-13 08:20 AM

I'm really enjoying this thread. The color of that bike is nicely understated and elegant. Perhaps one day if I quit snagging American built customs, I just might get my hands on something like this.

That is one gorgeous Singer!

northbend 02-07-13 08:11 AM

I put some new Honjos on last night, still need to make some minor adjustments and it will be ready for spring riding...

The fenders will come off in the Summer for Cino type rides

Roger M 02-07-13 11:37 AM

Nice work, Northbend. A real beautiful bike, and I think the fenders look 'at home' on it(even if only a few months of the year). I hope to see it in person sometime.

northbend 02-25-13 10:46 PM

Let's plan a ride real soon Roger.

A friend of mine picked up some King Cage toe clips for me at NAHBS in Denver. Put 'em on today. Not exactly period correct but I think they fit right in. They also will fit my 5.10 Guide Tennies much better than the old clips.

It's "San-gair". So hopefully it will be san-ging to you. :p

One of the best bikes on BF, as far as I am concerned. You've done a tremendous job putting it together.

How do you like the pedals?

Alex Moll 02-25-13 11:11 PM

Those are neat! They look really old school (which is cool to me) and sorta elegant. I didn't know King was making these.

Aemmer 02-26-13 12:41 AM

Moon Valley Road. Bring a flash or a tripod. Got to be some great backgrounds there.

rootboy 02-26-13 06:48 AM

I like those toe clips too. At fifty bucks a set, certainly reasonable for hand made item.

northbend 03-31-13 08:10 AM

This will be the Cino Heroica configuration.
New wheelset with Challenge Grifo 33mm's mounted last night. I noticed one of my brake pivot bolts was missing. Must have worked itself loose during my ride yesterday morning. Crap!

ColonelJLloyd 03-31-13 08:13 AM

Sweet!

I have some incomplete MAFACs around. I'll see if I have a pivot bolt.

jet sanchEz 03-31-13 08:18 AM

Dunno how I missed this thread, do you have any shots of the bike with fenders on it from the side?

I will own one of these beauties one day but for now, I am very jealous :)
