Nervar Crankset
Over the weekend I attended the Milwaukee Bike Swap and picked up an '84 Gitane Interclub, sans wheelset. According to the '84 Gitane catalog everything appears to be correct except the crankset and the DT shifters. The Simplex DT shifters were replaced with Simplex barend shifters and the Stronglight 104 crankset has been replaced with a Nervar set.
http://www.gitaneusa.com/images/cata...84/Page_08.jpg I know very little about French components............I am aware that Stronglight cranks require a particular crank puller. Can I pull the Nervar cranks with a standard puller or do they require a special puller as well? I don't want to replace them..................just clean them and service the BB. |
All of the Nervars I've had took a standard puller. But I'd still be cautious; see if a standard puller has any play once you've threaded it in.

+1 and I liked the Nivar I had, it was light and airy.

Standard... Great cranks.
|
i've been looking for an excuse to buy a set of Nervar 50.4 cranks for the last year...

Ahhhhh...Found a match on VeloBase...................no extractor threading listed but the pedal threading is English |
I have two Stars and had a 50.4. They all took a standard Park tool perfectly.
|
I have both Star and 50.4 versions, and all took the standard crank puller.
|
+1, Nervar uses the standard 22 x 1mm extractor. The only non-standard extractor threading that I'm aware of are TA, pre-1982 Stronglight and Lambert.
|
I like the Nerver for it's quality and appearance, which I used a Campy puller to remove the cranks.
I put the Nerver Cranks on my wife's Peugeot Mixtie: http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/q...DSC_0010-1.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/q...e/DSC_0011.jpg Cheers!:) |
