I just picked up a 63cm Klein Quantum that was for sale 2 miles away from my office. It looks to be a 1990 and not nearly as in as nice a condition as yours. I had to measure it 2 times because with the oversize tubes it just does not look as big as my other bikes. I plan to do a total tear down and rebuild after I get a ride in on it this weekend to see how much I like it.
Do you know what year yours is? i also picked up an aeolus frame in november for like $50 |
Just saying Aeolus makes my cheeks clench.
How many Kleins do you have now? You are turning in to a Klein hoarder. |

it was advertised as a 92 - but i didnt do any research on it - my guess would have been early 90s though
Klein actually made a flat bar road bike about that time, called the Quantum TT. My History of Klein Road Bikes: LINK http://www.vehibase.com/klein-quantum-tt.jpg |
Nice frame!
I had an Adept Pro frame in the same paint scheme - really amazing paint job. Depending on the light and the angle it went from purple to blue to gold. That's a nice bike you have there. |

It's a year 2000 model, the paint is called "purple haze". I wouldn't call it a beater, I'd call it a FrankenKlein!

I don't think it's blasphemous at all. Sometimes I think I should rebuild my fleet on light frames and wheels, from cargo hauler to club bike. I might even give up my beloved Rudge 3-speed and rebuild it on a 531 frame, if I can get one cheap enough.
Some months ago, there was a thread about a bike someone spied on the street or outside a pub, being used as a pub-crawling bike or some such. It was a Colnago or some other racing bike, with upright bars and other concessions to convenience. I think it's a great idea. It's not purist, but it might suit the purpose better than a Linus bike or something, depending on the rider. Maybe the rider is a former racer and has a snappy club bike for weekend rides. |
