do avocet cranks require a special taper werent they made by ofmega? and ofemga used a funky taper i recently picked up a very nice avocet triple and ISO tapered spindles even seem too big

generally, if it's branded Avocet (and not Ofmega) it will fit an ISO spindle...except if it's an "early" Avocet, in which case it may have to fit the oddball Ofmega spindle.
How do you know if yours is an "early" model Avocet? By testing the fit on an ISO spindle, I guess.
If it came with its original spindle, the early ones might be stamped 2 (for a double) or 3 for a triple, where the later ISO spindles might be stamped 20 and 30, respectively.
I say "might" because it appears there are rampant exceptions to this rule where Avocet/Ofmega are involved.
I guess I've never owned an "early" Avocet cause mine always fit ISO spindles, no problem.
