Fit '73 SA AW 3-Speed onto newer bike.
I have a spare AW hub that I would like to fit onto a newer folding bike, problem seems to be that the axle on the hub I have is approximately 5 3/4" and the outside edge of the dropouts is at about 6". I am sure I can squeeze the stays in a bit but I am not sure I can fudge it that much. Is there a wider axle I can find? I have not seen any for sale in the usual places. Any other suggestions?

6 1/4 inch axles are available from any shop that orders from QBP (I'm pretty sure).
Harris (former home of Sheldon Brown) included:

That might not be enough if it really is 6" to the outside, though.
