Anyone have stem wedges lying around?

Short story, I bought a Peugeot and at first was very unhappy with it in person...but it's starting to grow on me. The problem now is that the seller did not send or Fedex lost in shipping the stem wedge. I've seen a couple on Ebay, but figured I'd try here first before to see if I can get the right part first try. I know a lot of folks have a lot of junk sitting in buckets or on the shelf that they might not use.

Still working on the bike....but looking like a 1971-74ish UO8.

I think the wedge you need is different than most common wedges, french? I'm sure someone will pop up and send you one for the price of shipping.

I might have one, but I need more precise info. How long does the bolt need to be, what kind of head on the bolt (hex, allen?), what kind of wedge?

That's my secret hope. I was going to take a picture of the stem and bolt (no calipers yet to measure), but the camera battery died.

I've got a 22.2 I'll send you if you want.
First, send out hope that I'll find it.

If so, you'll be my hero. I have the bolt, just not the wedge. I'm still charging up the camera battery for a picture. The bolt is about 6.5" long with a six-sided hex top. I'm probably not using the right terminology for the stem wedge. The bottom of the stem isn't the "wedge" shape that I'm used to seeing. It's more like this (not actual picture) :

That's ok, Robbie. I always ask questions before having all of the information that I need to provide first.

I have one too... attached to a fairly toasty stem I stole the bar pinch bolt from. PM me and I will send it along with the wedge bolt and stem.

Is there any chance the missing nut is still in the fork?

Do you need a 22.2 or the French size or doesn't it matter for the conical?

I may have a 22.2 one around.

Just curious. With no stem wedge, have you ridden it for it to "grow on you"? Or is that a matter of appearance?

Can't tell much from that pic but it looks to be a nice UO8. If you haven't ridden it yet you will be pleasantly pleased(*) by the ride.

* - Anyone need some extra redundancy? I have more than I need.

Thanks for the help, guys. I sent Sven a PM on it since he has a picture of it that looks like what I'd need.

No, I haven't ridden it yet Jim. It's more of a visual and possibilities that it holds as to why I've felt better about it. When I bought it (Ebay) I had really high hopes for it. When I received it, I was very unhappy when I found out it was missing the nut/wedge, had the generator light busted into pieces, and that it wasn't quite the hidden jewel that I imagined it to be. I thought I was getting far more than what I paid for, but it was really exactly just what I paid for.

After a week to relax a bit, I realize that I have a ton of ideas for the bike. It's nice enough to not be ashamed of in looks, but not so nice that I'm afraid to ride it or try some different things with it. I also find it kind of neat to have a French bike with English fenders (Bluemels) and if I remember right, a trap-style rack from Switzerland. No idea where the generator is from....but I doubt it works.

Cash is tight, so upgrades/repair will be slow, but I think this will be fun. I hope it rides as nice as Jim says.
