Craigslist changes - hidden email addresses?

Anybody else notice this recently?

This appears to be new for me over the last few weeks. Usually when you got an email response it was from the person's actual email address with a cc to a craigslist email, but now craigslist appears to be masking the reply email addresses.

I guess they're doing this to try to cut down on email harvesting spam, but I thought that being able to see the person's actual email address was a useful indicator to see if someone was a real person or not (some are more obvious than others).

Also, I wonder if this will prevent you from continuing an email conversation with a seller after the ad expires, since craigslist used to deactivate the email aliases of expired ads.

Yep, I've seen the same change. At first, I thought they were scam replies.

Just one more reason to stick to my guns when I say, "Include a phone number with your response, I respond to those who provide a phone number first"
It's also an excellent nut case filter. I can't recall the last time I listed on CL, got a response with a phone number and talked with someone who wasn't a totally normal person at the other end. And spammers never provide a traceable phone number.

Good advice.

They're doing it here as well. Bummer, as the addresses frequently revealed a lot....

I like it. I never liked my personal email address being available. Like the OP I wonder what happens when the ad gets deleted? Can you still get emails through the CL email? If you can't, I like this as well.

The scammers usually had normal sounding gmail & yahoo emails.

Bikes: enough bikes to qualify for Hoarders......

The scam emails now have an email address in the text body and request that you use it. They are also claiming to be local.
Ebay does not allow you to send you email to a buyer either.
