I wish all of you do gooders would stop being so nice and helpful to everyone that stops in here. You keep dragging more and more people into the cult and I will never find my $50 Masi.

Yup, you called it right, C&V is the chit! ;)

IMO, best people, best bikes, best talk, best every dam thing!!!

C&V is a great subforum, but Commuting, Touring and 50+ are also nice, well-mannered places.

The_Joe 03-26-13 08:30 AM

I'm here and at the mechanics forum mostly. I spent about a month frequenting one other sub but after I asked a "dumb question" I got berated rather than helped. And many of the attempted answers were snobby.
I'll just stay here where you give an answer to be helpful and don't just write something "funny" to boost your forum cred.

I have to echo.

If it wasn't for these guys, I wouldn't have refreshed that old garage sale bike I found and started riding. Instead of saying, "meh... that's just a regular old bike, go find a Bianchi..." they said, "yeah, I love my Raleigh Grand Prix! It's nothing special, but it's great to ride! Go forth and cycle your heart out."

It's the positive attitude and laid back atmosphere that keeps me coming back, if even just to lurk.

 I hadn't thought about that! You're absolutely correct on that count. ;)

I have your $50 Masi on the stand right now. I would sell and send it to you,
but then you will be all, "My bike is waay better than yours." Too bad, it's very pretty.

Most of the bike areas on here are pretty chill.. I agree C&V is one of, if not THE best sub forum, and it's where I spend most of my time. There's a good mix of historical and mechanical knowledge mixed in with bike enthusiasm, and there's very little snobbery, even if some of us like to think of ourselves as bike snobs. I also enjoy the bike mechanics forum, though sometimes I prefer to ask my mechanic-type questions here, since yall have an old school sensibility and sometimes more familiarity with the parts and systems in question.

Quite a few of the forums have low traffic, or the content is specific to an area of biking that I'm not interested in. There's only two forums where I don't dig the vibe too much.. i own one road bike and two single speeds but don't hang in either of those forums. A&S is great for kicks though I only stop by once in a while

Speaking of bad vibes, I think I am getting one now.

See how you are? ;) Hey, where the heck's Schwenksville, anyways? Or is that a fictional location, invented for and by the Witness Protection Program? :D ;) I'm from New Castle, PA, originally, but haven't really hung out there in years & years.

3alarmer 03-26-13 04:37 PM

What's the best chain lube ?.............

This forum is a class act. It re-kindled a passion that sticks to ones life style in a good way. Noted there are some real artisans here that readily seem to help others in a bind and informative and mellow it definitely is.
