the ''other bf forums''

i've never been a trash talker and i'm not gonna start now. but, i do give praise when its due. i've spent the last week hanging out on another forum. but after seeing the large egos and my bike is better than yours attitude i left and came back to c&v. all the members on this forum should be proud. i never see anyone putting another persons bike down, maybe constructive cristism but thats it. mostly people on here are to help one another. i have had several people just give me parts when i need them. we couldnt ask for a better group of guys on a forum. thats all i have to say about this. thanks

I hear you sloar!

This forum easily has the nicest guys anywhere on BF. It's actually one of the reasons I ride C&V, because I can so easily share my experiences with everyone here. I think it has something to do with the age of the members here. With age comes maturity...:)

RobbieTunes 03-25-13 05:02 PM

we're just quiet about it.
we know the deal.

clasher 03-25-13 05:03 PM

Despite being a bit of a **** myself I enjoy the decorum in this forum more than any other around this site. The mechanics forum has some good folks too but the signal-to-noise ratio is worse there.

bibliobob 03-25-13 05:20 PM

+1. By and large, the folks here are laid-back, considerate, and knowledgeable...

ftwelder 03-25-13 05:30 PM

They all seem to have a different tempo. I guess a lot depends on when you visit.

toytech 03-25-13 05:40 PM

We just don't need to "compensate" here ;) tongue firmly in cheek...

I agree. Folks here at C&V are very helpful

spacemanz 03-25-13 05:52 PM

Puppy porn? No sir, we won't have any of that here. :D ;) I dunno, maybe I am a little warped, after all. ;)

Velognome 03-25-13 06:12 PM

Puppy porn! There's only one puppy it's art!

rootboy 03-25-13 06:42 PM

You mean ....there's another forum for classic and vintage bikes? ;)

photogravity 03-25-13 06:54 PM

I agree with the OP. This is the subforum where I hang out the most and this is a friendly place, though the folks in the 231 seem pretty laid back too.

Evil, Robbie. Really, really evil.:)

Actually I rarely come in here, but yes you folk are always very helpful and polite, as are Touring and for the most part Folding, which is where I can usually be found. Some of the others I avoid.

Amen and amen, Top. Very well said. I am restricting my time to C&V, 50+ and the Introductions. I looked in at the 41 some but only a very occasional reply and only to say something constructive and nice. Still earns me some smart assed replies at times, so I just avoid it. C&V and 50+ have their rough spots, but it is mild and usually comes back together, quickly. Glad you are back here more.

Semper Fi,
Bill

The anonymity of the internet tends to bring out the worst in some people, and chat rooms and forums tend to bring out the worst of the worst. That having been said, I AM an admin/moderator on a photography forum with over 300,000 members. I've had to deal with my share of snarky people who would have you think they know everything about everything, and when they're not on the internet, they're sticking their dog with a fork. I have seen that same attitude in other forums, and even to a certain extent on other boards in this forum, although a bit more restrained than, say, most car and gaming forums. It is natural that I would end up here where everyone is friendly and always helpful. Besides, C&V is a topic (now) near and dear to my heart.

Kudos to the moderators here who seem to keep it all in good shape......

bici_mania 03-25-13 09:44 PM

I would say that the BikeForums website is better than any other cycling forum site, but within BikeForums, C&V is my favorite for all the reasons stated by others here. There is an emense wealth of knowledge shared here that I greatly value.

Reynolds 03-25-13 09:51 PM

I regularly hang out at 3 or 4 BF subforums. C&V is very nice and civil, and is full of knowledgeable people, but the 41 is funny and has valuable info too if you know how to sort it out. Not for the thin-skinned though.

3alarmer 03-25-13 10:07 PM

My bike is waaay better than yours.......................just sayin'.

WNG 03-25-13 10:31 PM

Been here since I joined BF in 2007, the people here are the most civil and helpful, and friendly. Simply the best.

auchencrow 03-25-13 10:36 PM

There's another bike forum?

acoffin 03-25-13 10:37 PM

I'm just trying to follow the example set by most everyone else. Thanks for being such a great group!

$3.95, wanna trade? I'll throw in a spoke wrench only slightly worn out. ;)

But, yeah, this is a good neighborhood.

They're stoned on endorphins.

Not that it's a bad thing. :thumb:
