Tire and Generator Questions.

I found a cool 1930's Triumph bike and wanted to get a few things for it.

Does anyone know of a good place to get 28 x 1 1/2 tires. I would love to get whitewalls. Ordered 2 black tires off of ebay, but couldn't find any whitewalls.

The bike came with a Bosch light generator and Bosch Light, but for the life of me I can not figure out how to mount it. It seems like the current mounting bracket probably was for a different bike or it's missing some pieces. Any ideas?

First of all, the fork on that bike is badly bent. Please have a bike shop --or a frame builder-- take a look at it before you put money into it.

I'm not sure about the generator. You can probably put two P-shaped clips around the fork blade or stay and bolt the generator to those.

German made rather than an English Triumph. It's an interesting bike.

Yes, you need to get the fork ironed out before anything else.

I had the bike at the shop yesterday and they said the fork was fine. Maybe it just looks weird in the picture.

Harris Cyclery offers 28' x 1-1/2" tires on their web site, but only in blackwall:

I suspect finding whitewalls in that size is like finding hen's teeth.

I have seen photos where the fork appeared bent when it was not. I have also
seen a local shop here rethread a fork for someone that was bent considerably
worse than yours looks to be, and reinstall it on the bike.

You have photos from two angles, and your fork appears to be damaged in both of them.

Find someone knowledgeable who you trust to look at it....sadly, not everyone employed
at your LBS either knows or cares.

Your generator mount is either missing a loop to go around the fork or it was designed
to be mounted on a tab brazed onto the fork ...........you can probably kludge something.

From that picture, with the fork blades angling out behind the axis of the steerer before curving forward, I would say you need a new fork and a new LBS. I don't think its likely it will break if you ride it like that, but it may handle badly.
