The old Suntour company did make a couple of duds IMO, one would be their seemingly prone to cracking rear GS dropouts and the other would be their Microlite all aluminum FWs that never seem to fail to get its FW body removal notches easily messed up by FW removers (why the heck didn't they just go with splines instead?). Some also questioned their endless band style type FD mount, but I don't think that was actually bad, just not easy to figure out for some. I don't think they will revive those items again in their component lineup..... Otherwise the rest of their stuff were generally as good or in many cases, better than Shimano's......

+1 That's a far better solution than a derailleur with a claw.

Just remember, some of us were reviving Suntour, before THEY were. Do we get a discount on their newer stuff, for "customer loyalty"?

Meh. All this stuff looks like it came from the same factory, as every other VO/SOMA/COMPASS compnent. I will just stick with late model Shimano(2008 & before) if I want modern. Cheap, looks ok and I know it works.

I'm a very old SunTour fan, (and anti-Shimano bigot) but I don't like the freewheels. I've had much better service from Shimano freewheels.

I like Suntour stuff as well. This incarnation is a Suntour branding effort. Plus, all of the components are made in Taiwan by the companies who make components for all of the other "brands" Shimano included , I am sure.

Suntour's Cyclone MkII RD was the best rear derailleur in the 80's ....uhmm.. gram per gram, and there weren't much of those grams either on it!. Maybe I should quit looking for and buying those Mavic SSC derailleurs and finaly start looking for those for my stash! Unfortuanately the MKII's are pretty much just as expensive as the Mavic SSCs these days..... I should have gotten them three years ago, when you can still get NOS ones at eBay for about 60 bucks!

When I was racing with Superbe Pro I always swapped out the freewheels for Dura-Ace. Lasted longer and shifted better. I never have understood today's mini-obsession with SunTour freewheels.
