Trek 770 saddle and tape. Black or White?
Which color bar tape and saddle should I keep on my Trek 770?

I'm usually biased towards white saddles and bar tape for most 80's bikes, but in this case, it looks like black saddle and tape nicely ties in and catches the dark rims on the bike...so I vote for a black/black combo for your very nice Trek!

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
Since you asked, I'd go with the white. And I'd forgo the black finishing tape inboard for just plain white electrical tape.
And then I'd go crazy and get some white tires and a full Santé gruppo...
(My problem is I never know when to quit)

...save the white combo for when the black anodising wears off the brake surface of the rims.

Black, in my opinion. The white is too bright and tends, for me anyway, to detract from the overall image of the bicycle. Course, when the white saddle and bar tape gets dirty, it might look a bit less obtrusive.

White is sharp, but also a PITA to keep white if you ride. Black for low maintenance.

cb400bill, is that the $12 Cutter saddle/bar tape combo from backcountry.com? I ordered one too, also in white. Good quality stuff but I don't know what bike to put it on. I think it will be sitting in a box for now. BTW, for your bike my vote is for white!

Mike552, it is not that combo. It is Fizik tape and a lightly used San Marco saddle.
BTW, white tape and saddle is OEM. So are charcoal colored rims.

Geez, I was hoping to be challenged here, but it's not even close - that white just pops!
Great looking bike!

Black is for boring people, so i choose white for this build, but with the following suggestions:
1) san marco rolls or a selle italia turbo white saddle to keep it more classic looking, the current white one you have looks kinda cheapo, seeing as you are running a campy SR drivetrain and other decent parts then there's no point on cheaping out on a saddle.
2) use white or pink finishing tape on the wraps, not black.
3) add white tires, i have these running on a bike:

2) The black finishing tape is what came with the white bar tape so that is what I used. However, I do like the idea of white, but not pink, finishing tape.
1) I would like to try a white San Marco Regal on there. I tried a Turbo a while back and it didn't agree with my backside. With my current budget restraints, the more modern San Marco SPID will have to do for now.
