Need help with a fake Raleigh
Picked up this "Team Raleigh" earlier this week for the Stronglight triple that was on it. PO had said in his ad that it wasn't a real Raleigh, but he couldn't remember what it was. It has a few distinguishing features, but I haven't been able to match them yet. The only other bike I've found with the same lug shape so far is a Motoconfort.
It's not high-end, but it's my size so I'm thinking that with an AW hub, dark green paint and gold-lined lugs it might be a nice tourer. Any idea what it could be? TIA. http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Grotefoto-4EXDHU33.jpg http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Grotefoto-HNC47ZXW.jpg http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Grotefoto-DVGBLTUR.jpg http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Grotefoto-RJ8GKKKG.jpg http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Grotefoto-WFGXJ8FD.jpg http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Grotefoto-IWZXVCNS.jpg |
the fixed cup is Flandria proprietary.
could be a clue... |
Flandria? Mmmmmm .... Thanks, Juvela.
|
VAR makes/made a jaw for their fixed cup tool specifically to fit this unique cup.
|
I think you are right. I just googled a few Flandria's and those lugs and pump pegs appear there too. Cool! I have a couple of Superia's and a Flandria was really kind of missing ...
|
and now you can add it to the "show us your Belgian bikes" thread!
|
Good point! Will do. (It could use a bump)
|
wow, that was some quick CSI'ing. Looks like a nice frame for a fast and upright project.

Not the same starting point, but similar in work to my buddy's Schwaleigh! |
there is another one of these in a new thread:
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...dria-Road-Bike this machine has a separate tubular seatstay bridge for rack mounting. have not seen this arrangement before. according to another recent thread machine is likely to have been contructed in Portugal. |

how long is the spindle.
EDIT: took the spindle out and checked: it's a Stronglight. It is marked '125' and measures close to 124 mm. Other markings are 'A' and 'S' on one side and '2' and '25' on the other. |
-----
original spindle would have been cottered with a satin chrome finish and marked in the centre "FLANDRIA MADE IN PORTUGAL" in quite small letters. shell BSC thread & 70mm in width. ----- |
Shell is indeed 70mm. My spindle measurements:
A: 30mm B: 56mm C: 38mm D: 124mm https://myalbum.com/photo/p65J0Sev9LUE/1k0.jpg |

Yes, the sleuthing power of C&V is enormous! I'm still unsure what to do with it. 700c wheels look a little lost in this frame, so maybe 27" with fenders? Some red Bluemels maybe?
