I know the feeling, though once I got a comment, nice Schwinn when I was riding the 85 Le Tour Luxe, and once when I was riding the Lynskey, but not a word on the Mercian which is more visually attractive with very unique lugs then any of my other bikes.

My '73 Flandria 3 speed gets the most attention, I think people think it's older than it really is. Or maybe it's just the flamboyant chain guard.

This is my daily commuter and on the train I get many a questions, comments etc. about the bike. It looks great but people think I dropped 5 grand on it (if they only knew how cheap the frame actually was). People stare as I ride by and riding groups catch up to ask questions or put their game faces on to show they have the better bikes. I've actually started riding an old beater more often to avoid these moments (especially since a friend's Tommasso was stolen off the train).
