what model brooks saddle?

My knowledge of brooks saddles isn't very broad in general, i know the brooks b-17's, pros and swifts and that's about it.

When i purchased this bike it came with this saddle, owner told me it was a brooks b-47, which in my mind i've never heard of. It looks like a standard professional, plus it also says that on the side. I don't know if they had many different models of professionals in the past. so is this just a standard pro? Also i take it the 73 stamp just means the manufacture year? some saddle i see number stamps and others i don't. What does the "A" stand for?

thanks in advance and of course here are the pics:

Prob'ly Jan '73, and it's a regular Pro.

Was the Pro perhaps also referred to as B-47? I dunno, I don't think so.

I have seen Professionals referred to by other numbers before, but I believe they were earlier incarnations. Not a lot of info on the Net.

But there is a B-47 shown on this page.

73 is the year the frame was made. The A does not mean January, though. I've only seen the letters A, B, and C used. So maybe the year was divided into three periods of four months each. Or maybe something else.

I don't want to start a new thread so I hope mapleleafs-13 doesn't mind if I ask about this saddle. I have never seen a Professional with those holes in the middle of the seat, is it custom?

Well, okay, maybe the idea isn't too bad, but I don't like the look of the four holes all the same size. People have done some pretty neat perforations, patterns of holes, varying the sizes and that kind of thing.
