Incredible deals..!

Long have I followed the "Found at the Dump" thread, which really has little to do with the Dump, since most of the bikes offered, in that thread, did not come from the Dump. No biggie, just an observation. The thought, however, brought something to mind...

Great deals! Not the deal where grandpapa gives grandbambino his loved and hard ridden, then restored Legnano Nocostalotta. But deals involving you, a complete stranger and a wonderful, or even not so wonderful, bicycle...

My best story of bicycle acquisition has got to be that associated with the Carlton Flyer, featured in my website. Have a look at the article, if you like, but the short and sweet of it went exactly like this...

Bob, someone I did not know, emailed me, including a picture..,

...and asked if I might know of anyone, who would be interested, in the bicycle. He was seeking a new and good home for the bike. Needless to say, the answer to his question was - me!

Leaving much of the story out (here, but not in the article), Bob, a complete stranger, who knew me only through my first website, Vintage Life Cycles, sent me the Carlton, free of charge. He even insisted on paying the shipping. Incredible, to say the least. This is what Bob's bike looked like after a bit of spit and polish...

Anyone else have a "how found" story that steps outside of the box?
