Bikes: LESS than I did a year ago!

Royal Enfield Firefly

This weekend I bought an old Royal Enfield Firefly...and am trying to find information on it. Pictures are attached.

Basically...does anyone know anything about this bike? Possible years? Is it any good (no labels about tubing)?

Etc. , etc., etc.

Could find very minimal information on the Internet...

Bikes: Raleigh Sports: hers. Vianelli Professional & Bridgestone 300: mine

Late 50's early 60's ?
Royal Enfield had a long tradition of manufacture, especially motorcycles.
With the tube fork crown, I'm wondering if it is a Raleigh brand by this time.
Looks like a great project, is the stem stuck?

Yes, the stem is a bit stuck...but...have not spent a lot of time with it yet. Not sure what I want to do...considering three options:

(1) Fully bring back, with period parts, etc (could take a while...but that is ok)
(2) Convert into a rideable frame with either modern (doubtful) or franken parts...and enjoy
(3) Simply make this gorgeous frame/fork into wall art!

Anyone's opinion will be considered!

If you're inclined, build it up like this. Make friends with Sixty Fiver; he's got all the advice you'd ever need. I don't live in a place where these 3-speed English tourers are workable, but man, I think they are cool. That Lenton at the link above is the oyster's iceskates.

A Firefly eh? Just make sure the primary buffer panel doesn't fall off on reentry! ;-) Looks like a cool build...CLASSY!

I used to have a '57 Enfield Indian....basically a Royal Enfield Interceptor with the "Indian" logo on the tank.

I bought one new in 1968. It was gorgeous. It was a Raleigh dealer in Park Ridge NJ. It was the only one he had.
Unfortunately it was stolen a year later. Great bike, nicer than the Raleighs he had in the store at that time.
